In managing government debt, Agence France Trésor is assisted by a Strategic Committee. Together with the primary dealers (SVTs), this committee advises the agency on the main lines of government issuing policy. Its purpose is to help Agence France Trésor to make the most of its issuing principles and to implement issuing policy at a practical level.

It is made up of leading experts from many different backgrounds providing Agence France Trésor with advice on the main lines of government issuing policy.

The purpose of the strategic Committee is primarily to offer its own interpretation of the principles underlying government issuing policy and treasury management and to state its views on existing practices and contemplated developments.

The Strategic Committee meets twice a year, providing an opportunity for the Head of the Treasury and Economic Policy Directorate, Chairman of the agency, assisted by the CEO and staff members, to summarize the agency's past activity, study it in the light of current economic circumstances, and present hypotheses based on which the agency will construct its future projects.
