AMTE
AMTE, created in July 2002, has established its central role as an international forum for exchange and a means of articulating the collective voice of the euro-denominated fixed income and derivatives markets.
The association has the following characteristics:
- it is exclusively dedicated to issues concerning euro debt markets
- it is open to all major professional participants in these markets, particularly issuers, intermediaries, investors and other market professionals
- it concentrates on issues selected by its members.
The purpose of AMTE is to contribute to the development and effective operation of euro debt markets by supporting the various professionals in these markets in their efforts to come to an agreement on concrete ways to reach these goals. In a broader sense, the association aims to facilitate the development of the depth, liquidity, transparency and innovative nature of the euro debt markets.
To achieve its objectives, AMTE conducts work and research, and organises consultations among its members on all subjects relating to any type of operation on euro-denominated financial markets excluding equity markets. In order to ensure efficiency, these subjects are chosen with the aim of contributing, without duplication, to the work carried out by other entities (subsidiarity principle).
Today, AMTE comprises almost 60 members, leaders in their field, representatives of the euro debt markets. The high profile Board members represent the diversity of the AMTE membership.
Since September 2004, AMTE has created five global working groups in order to address topical market issues:
- Promoting primary market standards for investment grade corporate and financial issuers
- Inflation-linked products in the euro area:  How to standardise, develop and promote the asset class - AMTE report now available
- Improving unification of euro debt markets: A concrete case study of covered bonds - AMTE report now available
- Supporting SME financing using securitisation techniques
- Bond market transparency in Europe - AMTE Thematic paper now available.
Furthermore, AMTE seeks to encourage, through its work, a dialogue with authorities influential on subjects tackled by the association and to present the conclusions of its report to a large audience, both within the euro zone and outside, in order to enrich the quality and pertinence of its work, and to strengthen its representativeness and its impact on euro-denominated fixed-income and derivatives markets.
